Our relationship with you doesn’t end with the sale. We remain committed and available to provide maintenance and repairs for our tools. A prime example of this is the recent repair of a spade belonging to Mr De Jong from Hoogwoud.
The Story of De Jong’s Panschop
In 1959, Mr De Jong’s father bought two spades and a stainless-steel handle from Sneeboer. At the time, this was a considerable investment for a small-scale fruit and vegetable farm, but he knew that quality comes at a price. This investment has paid off, as after 65 years of loyal service, the spade was only slightly cracked. We have had the honour of refurbishing this spade by welding the crack shut and thoroughly restoring the tool. Now the spade is ready to last for another 65 years.
Mr De Jong’s father worked with these tools right up until his retirement. A few years ago, De Jong senior passed away, and his children inherited the tools. Years of use have worn down the spade, but that now makes it the perfect size for Mr De Jong’s wife. And so the spade is still used with great pleasure in the garden.
This story illustrates not only the durability of our tools, but also the lasting bond we share with our customers. It is our mission to ensure that every tool that leaves our workshop is built to last a lifetime and, if necessary, can be repaired and refurbished.

Old garden tools given a new lease of life
We regularly receive tools aged 50–60 years at our workshop to fit them with a new handle. The stainless steel part is often in even better condition than new, as it has been beautifully polished by extensive use in the ground, almost like a mirror. We recognise these tools by the ‘S’ stamped into the blade, which was our very first logo on stainless steel tools. This ‘S’ was part of our slogan at the time: ‘Tools with an S guarantee success.’
This shows that our products are not only durable, but also improve with age. The steel develops a unique patina and wear patterns that give the tools a personal touch and character. Restoring these old tools allows us to honour a piece of history whilst retaining their functional value.
