This planting trowel was specially developed for Arends perennial nursery. The nursery was founded in 1888 by Georg Arends in Ronsdorf, Germany. Many of the perennials he cultivated received the highest honours from the English Royal Horticultural Society. Around 1920, the Arends planting trowel was introduced. Its base is a bricklayer’s trowel designed for professional use, further developed to make garden work more efficient and comfortable. In collaboration with Anja Maubach, granddaughter of Georg Arends, Sneeboer has reintroduced this planting trowel to the market, with great enthusiasm. The Arends Handspaten is available with an ash or cherry wood handle.
