Dit plantschopje is speciaal ontwikkeld voor Arends vaste plantenkwekerij. In 1888 werd deze kwekerij opgezet door Georg Arends in Ronsdorf, Duitsland. Veel van zijn gekweekte vaste planten hebben de allerhoogste onderscheidingen gekregen van de Engelse Royal Horticultural Society. Rond 1920 werd het Arends plantschopje geïntroduceerd. De basis is een metseltroffel speciaal voor professioneel gebruik, doorontwikkeld om het werk in de tuin efficiënt te verlichten. In samenwerking met Anja Maubach, kleindochter van Georg Arends heeft Sneeboer dit plantschopje weer op de markt gebracht, met uiteraard heel enthousiaste verwachtingen. De Arends Handspaten is verkrijgbaar met een handvat van essen- of kersenhout.

The Arends planting trowel (Handspaten in German) has a wide, pointed blade that is ideal for piercing the soil and digging a planting hole. The shaft connecting the blade to the handle is curved, minimising strain on the wrist.
