The Arends planting trowel (Handspaten in German) has a wide, pointed blade that is well suited to piercing the soil and digging a planting hole. The shaft connecting the blade to the handle is curved, minimising strain on the wrist.

Description

This planting trowel has been specially developed for the Arends Perennial Nursery. The nursery was founded in 1888 by Georg Arends in Ronsdorf, Germany. Many of the perennials he bred have received the highest honours from the Royal Horticultural Society in England. The Arends planting trowel was introduced around 1920. It is based on a trowel designed specifically for professional use, further developed to make gardening work more efficient. In collaboration with Anja Maubach, Georg Arends’ granddaughter, Sneeboer has reintroduced this planting trowel to the market, naturally with great enthusiasm. The Arends Hand Spade is available with a handle made of ash or cherry wood.
